The online gaming market has grown tremendously over the last decade and continues to do so. The increase in popularity of video games has driven the esports market to mainstream. Middle schools, high schools, colleges, and universities have witnessed the growing trend, and many have created dedicated esports programs within their offered clubs or curriculums, but most haven’t.

What is esports?
Esports is not just playing video games.

It is organized competitive gameplay between two teams with a set of rules and guidelines. Like traditional sports, esports helps students develop lifelong skills like communication, strategic thinking, leadership, and teamwork. According to nsba.org, students who join esports programs have better attendance (+10%) and earn better grades (GPA +1.7).

In addition to gaining life skills, having better attendance, and better grades, $22 million worth of college scholarships were awarded for esports in 2021. So the question is, how does your school launch a successful esports program? Intrada can help.

How to launch an esports program
Launching an esports program can be a complicated process, but it doesn’t have to be. Schools can do their research, gather interest but will eventually need to contact a certified esports consultant. In addition to having a certified esports consultant (CeC) on staff, Intrada has partnered with D&H Distributing and has become one of their trusted managing software partners (MSP) for esports. By working with Intrada, we will navigate you through the very detailed process. From selecting an advisor or coach to determining the best hardware and gaming software to use to make sure your location has enough internet bandwidth to handle your team – we got you covered. Our structured, step-by-step approach, led by James Haywood, Intrada’s CeC, will answer all of your questions and get your program up and running efficiently.

If you are a middle school, high school, or college and have been thinking about launching an esports program, contact James Haywood at 1-800-858-5745 or jhaywood@intradatech.com for a free consultation.
