Over three decades ago, Richard DeFluri had the idea of launching an investment advisory service because he felt there was just ‘something’ missing in the industry. So, in 2001, with ten employees alongside DeFluri, Abundance Wealth Counselors opened its doors.

Located in State College, Pennsylvania, Abundance Wealth Counselors provides a host of services around wealth management and estate planning to over four hundred clients across the United States.

“We are a family-owned business that truly focuses on our clients as we live out our core values – we know their time is precious, their security is priceless, and their values are paramount,” states Ryan Ohlson, COO of Abundance Wealth Counselors. “Our unique six-step approach answers all the questions we need to understand each client’s interests so a personalized wealth strategy plan can be created and implemented efficiently and effectively.”

The Abundance Wealth Counselors' Difference

DeFluri thought the ‘something’ that was missing was the total lack of coordination between a client’s accountant, attorney, financial advisor, and other specialists regarding their wealth management goals.

“We are the ringmaster, if you will,” says Ohlson. “We step into the center circle with each of our clients and take on the role of advisor, relationship builder, and communication manager. This puts our clients in the best financial position regarding their wealth strategy and allows them to invest their time in what matters most to them.”

In addition to taking on the ringmaster role for every client, Abundance offers a service that isn’t common for a traditional wealth management firm.

“We have an in-house video production studio and team,” adds Ohlson. “We create videos focused on wealth management or special interests related to our industry for our clients. We want them to be informed of everything, negative or positive, that concerns their investments. Whether it is the current economic outlook, cybersecurity issues, or college planning, we want to guide and inform each of our clients of their current or future wealth management needs.”

Why Abundance Chose Intrada?

Ohlson indicated that in 2018, Abundance became unhappy with their networking service provider and began the search for a new one. One of their employees mentioned Intrada Technologies in passing – that they provided support for her previous employer, who was using them for years.

Intrada met with Abundance, completed their company assessment, and identified their needs. While networking support was the main reason for switching vendors, excellent customer service and reliability were a close second. As a result, Intrada was a perfect fit.

“Intrada has been providing full PRO-Active networking support for us for nearly five years now,” explains Ohlson. “So, when we recently needed additional cloud services, we called Intrada, and they provided exactly what we were looking for as a growing business. We have consistently been happy with their service, and if another need arises in the future, we will be sure to give them another call.”
