Left without an IT staff, Maria Joseph Continuing Care turned to Intrada Technologies

When Ted Spotts, Executive Director of Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community, received his IT person’s two-week notice – he was a little concerned.

Maria Joseph’s IT person had been with them for 10 years and had made himself readily available, day or night, and even when on vacation. He had taken care of all the company’s technology needs and was trusted by leadership. There were big shoes left to fill – and quickly.

Filling the IT role became a priority to prevent a lapse in coverage. With his extensive experience working in senior care for more than 25 years, Spotts had worked with outsourced IT in the past and thoughtfully considered the option.

A “Highly-Recommended” Referral

Spotts reached out to his professional network for referrals. After a friend and business connection at The Williamsport Home gave Intrada Technologies a glowing recommendation, Spotts contacted James Haywood at Intrada to learn more. When Spotts chose to hire Intrada, we began by meeting with the current IT person and gleaning information. Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community is a locally-owned senior living community offering independent living, personal care, short-term rehab, continuing care, skilled nursing care and memory care services. Providing faith-based care for more than 100 years on their large campus in Danville, Maria Joseph Continuing Care’s services allow residents to age safely in place in their senior living options.

Following the initial assessment, Intrada identified areas of need to update or upgrade so Maria Joseph Continuing Care would be compliant and secure. On their beautiful, extensive campus nestled among the foothills, Maria Joseph frequently uses technology to care for residents and keep the campus safe. From communication and office needs to electronic health records and client security and dietary needs, having a secure, operational network is important for Maria Joseph.

“Intrada is doing more education with Maria Joseph than we had before. They explain what we need to do and why,” said Ted Spotts.

As such, Maria Joseph is always looking at strategic development and planning to be relevant to the needs of seniors, Spotts shared.

To stay relevant and remain a trusted source for aging adults and their families, Spotts and the Maria Joseph team needed an IT provider they could trust.

“I have to have a trusted partner for our IT services that I know has my team’s best interest in mind and isn’t just focused on making huge profits off of me,” Spotts explained. “Intrada has definitely tried to earn our respect and trust. I am comfortable when James comes to me with a proposal that he is doing the right thing and best thing for [Maria Joseph]. He isn’t just trying to sell me something, but instead is cognizant of our financial needs and always trying to find ways to think of our budget.”

Intrada’s Service Exceeds Expectations

After learning more about Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community’s needs, Intrada’s James Haywood created a proposal, budget and action plan.

The organization had an underperforming antivirus software and their backups were not working. Intrada was able to remedy both of those situations, in addition to monitoring all computers, servers and network, and providing basic security and antivirus protections.

“We have been able to provide some extra support that a lone IT person could not,” shared Haywood. “We have upgraded back-up software, anti-virus and spam filtering for a better one for the same price, and have saved them money in regards to connecting their buildings. We are working on their phone system as we speak and hope to save them money there too.”

Intrada Technologies’ goal going into the project was to provide solutions for known issues and identify and provide solutions for other unknown issues – all with Maria Joseph’s budget and mission in mind. According to Spotts, we are doing just that.

“Intrada’s service is better than any that I have experienced. They are on our campus regularly. James and the Intrada team have come through with some different arrangements with different providers that have afforded us with better protection at the same or lower prices too.”
